RE: Best way to back over a curb?

Get a running start and hit it going at least 50MPH.
I saw the boys on Top Gear do it that way!

RE: Suspension upgrades on 07 Seneca HD 35GS

As an update to my suspension mods...I was under my coach Monday and saw that the newly installed Roadmaster Steering Stabilizer had broken in two. The shock shaft snapped and the spring was the only thing (besides the bolts on each end) holding it together.
I took it back to the shop that installed it (luckily 2 miles from where I store the rig) and besides saying "Hmmmm, Gee...wow" and so on...they removed it and have ordered me a new one.

RE: Another dog-gone generator question - Coleman 6241

For your house, you need at a minimum 3,000 watts...preferably 5,000. For your RV, it depends on what you plan to run.

RE: Dealer called me, wants my used Starcaft!

Mike,
Best of luck with the new TT...and good luck keeping the GF happy! If she's like my wife...you had better get used to visiting the RV dealer.
First it was NO WAY!!!! Then...Hmmmm...maybe. Then it was "OK...we can get a small one". Then it was "How about the Greyhawk?". Then it was "OK...I want the Granite Ridge" and we got it. One day into our first trip it became "why did you not buy me a Seneca...this is too small".
Well...we bought a used Seneca and she is happy...well...she was.
Stupid me told her last week "Hey guess what...they make a version of the Seneca with a rear shower and two bathrooms".
Her response "Idiot...how come you did not buy me that one the first time"?
Well...she ain't getting that one...

RE: Suspension upgrades on 07 Seneca HD 35GS

I did 5 mods to the coach...well...OK...6 (if you count driving with only 1/2 a tank of water.
I did front and rear trac bars, front and rear sway bars and the Reflex steering stab.
Yes, it was expensive...but worth it. No more tail wag...and I have been hit with 50+ MPH side gusts and it did not cause any issues (besides startling me quite a bit).
I'm glad I did it.

RE: Automatic Generator Start System

Correct me if I am wrong, but is it not a bad idea to have the genny crank up with the A/C already turned on? I thought it shock loaded the unit and was bad for both.
Then again...what do I know?????

5.5 QD Genny problem...

Hi Guys,
I just got my Seneca back from the shop, where they replaced a broken circuit breaker (it had two 30A breakers) with a single 50A (they say that's the new way) and after I started it a few times, it was making a quite noticeable whining noise. I went out to the genny and shut it down from the generator switch on the unit itself and the whining noise quit. It kind of sounded like the starter was sticking a bit (tinging).
I restarted the genny from the start switch and it sounded like the starter was stuck so I shut it off again, and when it wound down, it suddenly stopped with a pronounced clunk (like the starter had jammed).
The generator would no longer start from the switch...in fact...it would not start or prime...it was dead. I then went inside, and pressed the start switch on the remote start panel and it started right up. I started and shut it down from the remote panel inside the coach and it starts fine, but is dead when starting from the generator. Also, the whining noise is still there, only less noticeable. I did run it for a couple of hours loaded up with both A/Cs running and it worked fine.
I am going to call Onan in the AM and see what they have to say.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,

RE: What ever happened to the RV cable shows?

Well, I guess you have never watched RV Road Trips because they always show TTs, 5ers, little Cs and so on. They also had Gary Bunzer detailing a maintenance item on each show that we all could use.
RVTV is what you are talking about I think.
Beave
I thought they were always geared to showing the higher end coaches anyway.
That's not the whole RV reality as far as I'm concerned. No big loss.

I did front and rear sway bars and trac bars plus a steering stab.
It made a world of difference. It's night and day.

If you have a generator...have it running when you put the slide out.
That will fix your issue.

RE: Dumping sewage at city hall?

Years ago, one of the neighboring police departments shot a lady's dog for no reason, and it created a big dust up that lasted for quite some time.
For about a year after that, I would load up Woody (our Golden) and take him over to the police station and let him take a dump on their lawn.
Poor Woody could never figure out why I would start laughing so hard when he went...but he sure liked the car rides.

RE: Is a Diesel Super C for me?

Get the 35GS...you will love it. I was injured and mine had to sit for four months last year before I could get well enough to start it and /or run the genny. It was fine. In the last 4 months since then, the DW and I have put about 10,000 more miles on it and you would have never known it had sat at all.
Your dealer is trying to get you to buy what he wants to sell you...not what you want to buy.
